Nurses Association Receives $170,000 from the Lord Ashcroft Relief Fund
In the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, nurses are among the frontline workers who put their own lives at risk. A few days ago, the Nurses Association’s President, Darell Spenser reached out to the Lord Michael Ashcroft Relief Fund seeking assistance to improve their accommodation in the districts. Today, the association received one hundred and seventy thousand dollars, which will be used to purchase and furnish three new housing units in the two southern towns of Dangriga and Punta Gorda to be used by nurses. The furnishing will include beds, work desks, refrigerators, oxygen regulators and other equipment. Spenser received the contribution from the Belize Bank’s Lyndon Guiseppi, who is also Chairman of the Ashcroft Relief Fund. Celia Swan from the Marketing Department of the bank was also on hand.
