More than six thousand surgical masks were also donated today to the Belize Police Department and the Ministry of Health. The donation comes courtesy from the All China Federation of Overseas Taishanese, an organization formed three years ago. The Federation has been very active recently, helping communities across the country with food supplies and government bodies with equipment to help with the COVID-19 response. Secretary of the Federation, Wallace Zhu told News Five that the donation is part of their commitment to the Belizean community.

“Now that the new normal is that we have to be wearing face masks in all our facilities including our public health inspectors who go out in the community these face masks come in very handy. We are going to make much use of it. We do have face masks because it is provided by the Ministry of Health but it is never enough. So at the Central Region we have close to two hundred health workers who need masks on a daily basis.”
