K.H.M.H. Staff Back at Work After Being Quarantined, Cleared
There are only eleven active cases of the novel coronavirus reported by the Ministry of Health. During the Easter holidays, a number of K.H.M.H. staff members were exposed to COVID-19 patient ten, Conrad Everett, when he was transferred from the Belize Healthcare Partners Limited to the national referral hospital within days of his demise. By the time his test returned positive for the virus, many had already been in contact with him and had to be quarantined. Well it’s been three weeks since the incident and K.H.M.H. C.E.O. confirmed today that those staff members are all back on the job.
Michelle Cox-Hoare, C.E.O., K.H.M.H.
“All staff members that were on quarantine for the exposure for case number ten, they are all back at work. They have been swabbed and they are all okay. Negative results.”
Duane Moody
“Was that a wakeup call for you guys in terms of looking at restructuring what you have in place to protect your staff?”
Michelle Cox-Hoare
“Our procedures are the same. The minute we identify that the case becomes a suspect case then there are measures that are put in place immediately and so that is what we do. We activate our next level of response and so that is what we do for staff members that are exposed because they were unaware prior to the knowledge being forthcoming. Then those staff are reviewed, assessed and managed according to our protocols.”
