Belize Commemorates Vaccination Week in the Americas
This week, countries around the world are commemorating the eighteenth annual Vaccination Week in the Americas. This celebration is being held under the theme, “Love. Trust. Protect. #GetVax.” The importance of vaccination was highlighted today by Nurse Administrator Sharon Cooper-Espinosa during Ask the Experts. Cooper-Espinosa encouraged members of the public to get vaccinated against disease especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are currently vaccinating against thirteen diseases. We are in discussion in introducing two other new vaccines: the rotavirus vaccine and the pneumococcal vaccine. Last year I believe it was we had some cases of diarrhea and vomiting and some of them were in fact due to rotavirus. Across the country we are administering vaccines. The vaccination programme, the vaccination services continue.”
