No Vaccine; No Rapid Tests for COVID-19
Doctor Marvin Manzanero says that no vaccine is available as yet, despite developments being made overseas. It is similar news on the issue of rapid tests, which is an option proposed for the reopening of the tourism sector.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“Notwithstanding everything happening in terms of treatment, there is still no specific treatment for COVID-19. There are advanced stages or phases of vaccine trials but still nothing significant. The new data over the last twenty-four to forty-eight hours suggest that even if there is a vaccine, it is still not known how much of an immunity response it can generate so that we would not know how much protection you can get from a vaccine. In terms of testing, we are still not finding any specific rapid test that is way ahead of the others of the more than seventy that are being studied. So, for now, we remain with PCR testing.”
