K.H.M.H. Doctor Tests Positive for COVID-19; 10 Healthcare Workers Now Have the Virus!
Tonight, there is a fear and concern among healthcare workers at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after one of their doctors tested positive for COVID-19. The concern at the hospital is that before he was tested he had contact with colleagues and patients. According to a memo from the K.H.M.H. C.E.O., the doctor didn’t contract the virus while on duty at the K.H.M.H. This latest positive case in a healthcare worker brings the total number to ten.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“The total figure of health care workers is ten. We have ten healthcare workers that have turned out to be positive and one person who works in administration in a health facility. Out of the ten, you now know that one person is an employee of Karl Heusner. Six persons are in the private sector and three persons are in the public sector. Out of the public sector, we have one pharmacist, one doctor and one nurse. As I have stipulated before, in our contact tracing we have not been able to identify that any of these offices would have gotten infected in the actual line of duty at work. It is important that we stress that. One doctor at Karl Heusner – it would not seem, from the initial contact tracing that has been done, that he would have been infected in the line of duty. As a matter of fact, the reason why he was swabbed is because he was linked to a previously identified case. In terms of the six health staff outside of the public sector is in private sector – we have one lab technician, one pharmacist, two nurses and two doctors. The contact tracing in those elements continue but it doesn’t seem that people in the health sector would all necessarily infected at work or in the line of duty.”
