B.D.F. Commander Says COVID Response Protocol in Place for Soldiers

This is the first B.D.F. solider to test positive for the novel coronavirus; there are twenty-five others in quarantine.  Commander Brigadier General Steven Ortega says that despite this documented case of COVID-19, the Belize Defense Force will continue the implementation and enforcement of administrative measures. These measures, he says, includes quarantine, isolation and source control to limit transmission of the virus.

On the Phone: Brig. Gen. Steven Ortega, Commander, B.D.F.

“Since the spike occurred some weeks ago we went to our initial COVID response meaning limited access to the camp, the spraying down at the barrier, wearing of masks and all the other guidelines lay out by the Ministry of Health. So we had gone back to that sine the spike. Those measures remain in place and our next moves depend with what comes out with the Ministry of Health we will see what other measures we need to implement.”
