COVID-19 Hospitalizations
Tonight several COVID-19 patients are hospitalized across the country. Three persons are in the I.C.U. at the K.H.M.H.; three of whom are intubated, but only one has a positive COVID-19 result, while the two others who are highly suspected COVID cases are awaiting their results. The number includes a mom who recently delivered a baby. The baby is intubated but the pair’s COVID-19 status is unknown at this time.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“Hospitalized patients – one in Corozal Community Hospital; Northern Regional Hospital and Southern Regional Hospital – all of these persons have a confirmed COVID-19 test. We also have three patients now at KHMH in Intensive Care and three patients that are intubated. One of them has a confirmed positive result and that is the person that has been transferred from the Western Region to KHMH. We have two persons who are highly suspect for COVID-19 but they don’t have a result as yet. Because these patients showed up today and they were already in respiratory distress so those persons were placed in intensive care under ventilation. Karl Huesner by the end of today would have had a set up of twelve ventilators but three of those would have already been occupied. We also have at Karl Huesner a patient who is positive who delivered a child via c-section. The baby is now going to be swabbed to determine what is the status of the child in terms of COVID-19 but they are both doing well. We also have another patient who was sent from San Pedro who had a delivery. The child is intubated and we don’t know the status of them but their samples are being processed later on today. That is where we are in terms of patients hospitalized.”
