And while the cases have been concentrated largely in the north and the city, including San Pedro, these latest stats show that the virus is spreading across the country – with numbers trickling in for small communities. Tonight, the south remains with the least number of cases – with Toledo recording only one case and that individual is a recovered border jumper, followed by Stann Creek with seven cases. On the other end of the spectrum, the cases are rising in the northern villages. Minister of Health Pablo Marin provided the numbers during today’s House meeting.

“I will read the numbers of what we have here in Belize. It goes like this: Belize District – we have a total of one hundred and seventy two. Belize City has forty two; Caye Caulker has three and San Pedro Town has one hundred and twenty-seven. The Cayo District has twelve. Breaking that down – in Belmopan there are five cases; two are in Benque Viejo Town; Bullet Tree Falls has one; Las Flores has one case; Santa Elena has one and Succotz has two. The Corozal District has twenty cases. The breakdown shows Alta Mira with one case; Buena Vista has one; Calcutta has one; Caledonia has one; Concepcion has two; Corozal Town has five; Paraiso has one; Patchakan has one; Ranchito has one; San Pedro – one; San Roman – one; Xiabe – one and Yo Chen has three. The Orange Walk District has eighty-eight cases. August Pine Ride has three; Blue Creek has four; Douglas has one; Guinea Grass has nine; Louisiana Farm has one; Orange Walk Town has twenty-one; Otro Benque has one; San Luis has one; San Estevan two; San Felipe one; San Jose thirteen; San Pablo four; Santa Martha ten; Shipyard thirteen; Trial Farm two; and Yo Creek two. In Stann Creek the total is seven; three are in Dangriga; Indepdence has three; and Santa Rosa has one. The Toledo District has one that is in Punta Town Gorda Town.”
