Romero Family Launches Petition

Shumari Romero

As a result of the ordeal with Luis Romero Senior, the Romero family has launched a petition and is asking for public support in requesting that the Ministry of Health pays closer attention to, and establish continuity of their very own rules, across the entire board.  The Romero family is calling on the Ministry of Health to modify their current COVID-19 testing protocol and remove the requirement that someone with symptoms will only be tested if they have been in contact with someone positive.

“The petition is geared towards everyone, demanding better from the Government of Belize and the Ministry of Health so that they can change the current protocols.  Right now they are just testing people if they have been in contact with people who have tested positive. That will not help the situation. We need people to know and a lot of time they tell us wear your mask and do your part. So we what we want to demand from them is for them to do their part. They have the voices and they have the avenue to make all the changes. They need to listen to the people. We are not the first families that has this issue. We have seen countless people on Facebook saying they were denied testing. I mean don’t have someone looking at these things. Who can we complain to? So the best way we saw is to do this petition.”
