Scenes of crime technician, Angela Wiltshire is furious with the Ministry of Health.  Wiltshire has been pleading with health officials to be tested after one of her colleagues tested positive for COVID-19.  According to Wiltshire, she had contact with her colleague who had stopped by her office to retrieve some documents last week.  She is concerned because she is diabetic and wants to know if she has been infected.  Wiltshire’s pleas, however, have literally gone unanswered; she says she has called the hotlines several times with no success. And when she visited Cleopatra White Polyclinic, she was refused to be tested because she did not show any symptoms.

“I’ve been calling, calling and no answer. My director called me on the weekend and advised me what to do and gave me some numbers again. And the numbers he gave me was 613-0787, 0-800-MOH-CARE. Those are the emergency numbers. I called those numbers fifteen times to be exact over the weekend. From Wednesday I was calling. I didn’t count that but over the weekend I called fifteen times and there was no answer. All I got was voicemail and it is heartbreaking, frustrating to know that you are in this position and you cannot get answer from the Ministry of Health. What are they doing? Who are manning the phones? They don’t have anybody to man those phones. These things play tricks on our minds and I need answers. I want answers.  I got up early this morning and I went to Cleopatra White Health Centre. I met the nurse there and I gave her what I went through and I told her that I am here because I am diabetic. I don’t have any symptoms and nothing like that. She said, miss we don’t do that here. She said we only attend to people if you have the flu like symptoms. I could have told her a lie that I have flu like symptoms but it doesn’t make sense to lie. While I was there, my phone rings and it was the same number that called me. The person identified themselves as somebody from the Ministry of Health. So I was asking why now? What’s going on? He told me that I need to see the doctor. Tell them what I have. I don’t have anything. The lady already told me that I cannot get swabbed if I don’t have any symptoms.”
