Taking a Closer Look at the COVID-19 Data

Today, the Ministry of Health released a breakdown on the number of the COVID-19 cases in Belize. These numbers are segmented by genders and age groups. The numbers show that infections are recorded in all age groups, but majority of the cases are recorded among persons of ages twenty to thirty-nine. Infections in that age range accounts for sixty-percent of the infections. A closer look at the age groups show that the highest rate of infection is in the twenty-five to twenty-nine bracket, which is nineteen point three percent.

“Just so you know and can appreciate all age groups that are encompassed here – COVID-19 has been detected in virtually all age groups. As anticipated and happens in most jurisdiction, the vast amount of people that are turning out positive are those in the young age groups, primarily between twenty to thirty-nine years. These are people who are having more social interactions, who are in the work place. They are potential carriers and may not be necessarily getting sick but they are the ones who could potentially continue to expand this curve.”

As a note, those stats don’t include Monday and Tuesday’s results.
