“How are you feeling and what symptoms, if any, are you exhibiting at the moment?”
On the Phone: Jenny Lovell, COVID-19 Victim
“I’m not exhibiting any symptoms. I started exhibiting symptoms on the seventh [of August.] I came down with a really runny nose, it was runny, runny, runny and I kept wiping my nose constantly. On Saturday the third, it was my sister’s birthday but I didn’t go doing anything with her because I wasn’t feeling well. I was sneezing and I felt pretty awful. Sunday I started coughing. Monday I was wheezing and wheezing really badly. Tuesday I had bronchitis and then after that I was given some expectorant so I can cough up the phlegm and I had someone tap on my lungs…and that’s what I did. So I started to feel pretty good after that and then I didn’t have any more symptoms. First of all, I put myself in quarantine. Once I started sneezing, coughing and doing all these stuff, in terms of COVID, I put myself in quarantine because I have one of the pre-existing conditions. I am over sixty, so I put myself in quarantine so I was not interacting with people. But I got a call this morning from someone who is doing contact tracing and I asked if these people are going to be tested and they said no, not unless they’re showing symptoms. So what about the asymptomatic people, are they going to be getting tested? How will they know that they are carriers, because that’s what an asymptomatic person is.”
