Police to sport a new gym courtesy of Lord Ashcroft COVID 19 Relief Fund
Some good news for the police; the Department will be sporting a new gym at the Police Fitness Centre. Funding has been provided by the Lord Ashcroft COVID 19 Relief Fund for the acquisition of gym equipment and for the renovations of the fitness centre. Commissioner of Police Chester Williams presented a proposal which was approved through the ten million dollar fund. All in all, one hundred and thirty five thousand dollars was approved and handed over to Williams by the Fund’s chair, Lyndon Guiseppi. The Department has identified Darwin Gallardo of Muscle Hut Gym to assist in the renovations and acquisition of the state of the art equipment which includes such items such as spinning bikes, dumbbells and olympic plates. The Police Department is working around the clock to implement the state of emergency during this pandemic so the fitness and well being of officers are a matter of priority. According to the Commissioner of Police, “Exercise is known to be directly proportional to improving both physical and mental health. Officers who have top physical health will have greater productivity and effectiveness in their duties.”
