10 COVID-Deaths & 27 New COVID-19 Cases
The number of COVID related deaths is sneaking up quickly and the situation is putting pressure on the health system. Four persons died from COVID-19 related complications over the weekend; one person is only thirty-years old. This weekend registered the highest number of the virus-related deaths in Belize putting the total figure at ten. We’ll tell you all about those deaths tonight – but before let’s take a look at the numbers released over the weekend. On Sunday, eighteen new cases were confirmed; while twenty cases were confirmed on Sunday. Earlier this afternoon, another twenty-seven new COVID-19 cases patients were identified with sixteen of those cases in villages across the Orange Walk district. These numbers put Belize’s total COVID-19 cases at seven hundred and thirteen; with six hundred and fifty-eight of those as active cases. D.H.S. Dr. Marvin Manzanero presented the stats for today.

“We have twenty-seven cases that are positive out of a hundred and eighty one tests that were done. The preliminary breakdown is as follows: In Corozal we had two cases out of the twenty-seven; one in Alta Mira and one in Paraiso. In Orange Walk we had sixteen total cases distributed amongst Orange Walk Town, August Pine Ridge, Yo Creek, San Felipe, San Jose Palmar, San Lazaro, San Estevan. In Cayo District we had five cases total – three in Belmopan and two in Armenia. In the Belize District we have four; three in Belize City and one in San Pedro. We now have, as you will note in that info graphic, ten deaths associated – that can be attributed or linked to SARS COVID 2 Infection.”
