Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners Trained to Mentally Deal with COVID-19
The trauma related to COVID-19 patients and victims does not only affect families, but it extends to frontline workers such as nurses and doctors. So who is there when these healthcare workers need some sort of counselling? Mental Health Coordinator Iveth Quintanilla says that the nurses are trained to deal with it and if that is not enough, they can rely on each other.
Iveth Quintanilla, Mental Health Coordinator
“During or training we are equipped with the skills set for us to be able to maintain our own mental health. And we also seek the support among each other in order for us to be able to cope with this stress time as well. We have already our clinics established in all the districts whereby we have our nurses to provide the assistance, not only for this COVID-19 but with any sort of trauma or disaster that the public might experience at any time. The next question says what type of networks have you establish to bring mental health works across the country together to brain storm and how to provide community level support at this time? Like I mentioned before, this has already been established. It is not only because of the COVID 19 that we need to develop these things but we have faced different sort of things already where by these survives needed to be implement so the services are there and you can access it at the numbers that I had provided.”
