Robyn Daly, Nutritionist, Ministry of Health
“Good nutrition helps us to fight disease and sickness. We see that many times people are not concerned about nutrition or food unless they are sick or they are ill. But a part of being healthy, we get to look at what foods help us to maintain good health. What foods help us to build our immune system and fight off illness. Our body’s defense mechanism is our immune system and we must protect it. Buying vitamins or supplements cannot replace food, there is no one food that we can buy that will help us to be healthy. We have to have it as a lifestyle, we have to have healthy eating as a priority. Natural foods is a very good way to get nutrients. So what makes up a healthy diet. When we talk about healthy eating we must refer to our food-based dietary guidelines. These guidelines are an educational tool that is used to teach about good nutrition.”
