Boy with brain tumor receives help
One week after we brought you the story of 9-year old Kurl Kingston, the young boy who is battling with a brain tumor and is in need of immediate surgery to stay alive, we have some good news. Fabiana Kingston says that on Wednesday they received word that a hospital has been found that will do the operation. According to Kingston, on Wednesday Richard Smith, a family friend and the manager of My Refuge Radio Station in Roaring Creek, told them that he had gotten in touch with Baptist Memorial Hospital in Texas and they agreed to do the surgery free of cost. Today, the Kingston family was busy in the city getting the necessary documents ready for the trip on Friday. Kingston says the news could not have come at a better time as on Monday, her son suffered a setback after he got an infection.

“Yes Kurl started with a fever and I noticed his nose started running and he started to get weak, so I brought him to Doctor Grinage on Monday and Dr. Grinage said we had to get Kurl out of the country. If we can’t make it to the United States, which would be a lot of money, we would have to go to Guatemala, but it had to be by Tuesday because we can’t have Kurl this way in Belize. But after I received the good news from Richard I feel so happy.”
“This hospital is in San Antonio Texas. Kurl will be admitted there, and will later go to Waco, Texas where the operation take place and then he will move back for the chemotherapy in San Antonio.”
When we aired the story the Kingston family appealed for the public’s assistance. We are happy to report that following the story the family received over $2,000 in donations. These came from businessman Archie Lee, the Ministry of Health and My Refuge Radio Station. The Kingston family would like give special thanks to Doctor Egbert Grinage and all those people who prayed for them.
