KHMH operating theatre closed
This week patients requiring immediate surgery at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital have had to undergo surgery at either the Belmopan or Orange Walk hospitals. News Five understands that since last week Wednesday, the KHMH operating theatre has been closed. Doctors were unable to use the room after its central air conditioning unit failed. Because Belize does not have the expertise to fix the unit, a Mexican company has been hired to do the job. According to Doctor Errol Vanzie, the Director of Health Services, they expect the unit to be working by next week Thursday. In the meantime cases requiring surgery will continue to be diverted to Belmopan and Orange Walk.
