Monitoring COVID-19 Clusters

The Ministry of Health is also monitoring a number of COVID-19 clusters, primarily in the northern districts of Corozal and Orange Walk. One particular cluster in Orange Walk involves a group of B.D.F. soldiers who have tested positive at a B.D.F. camp. DHS Manzanero says that the entire unit has been swabbed and some are awaiting results.

On the Phone: Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services

“We are also following a particular cluster. We have some B.D.F. soldiers that tested positive towards the end of last week. So we are following that big group of persons that may have been exposed. But it is Corozal and Orange Walk primarily that we are looking at some other clusters across the country that also seem to be expanding. They were at a camp in Orange Walk. I can’t recall the name of the camp and so the full swabbing of that group would have taken place yesterday. As I said, some members had been identified and we feel that the exposure may have been at the camp.”
