Deportees at Camp D’Silva Complain About Lack of Testing
The quarantine facility at Camp D’Silva in Mountain Pine Ridge houses border jumpers, as well as persons who are returned to the country via deportation. Over the weekend, concerns were being raised about the status of these isolated individuals who claim that they were being held at the location but were not being swabbed and tested in a timely manner. Others allege that they are simply being kept in lockdown at Camp D’Silva without receiving the results of their COVID tests. According to Director of Health Services, Dr. Marvin Manzanero, swabbing was to have been done on Friday and the results of those tests would be released later today.

“I know that the persons who were initially brought in as detainees or who were having some issues and were being deported back, those persons would have been swabbed on Friday, a team had gone up and would have been there to do that swabbing, so those samples should be out either later on today or tomorrow and they would follow that specific process. Throughout we have been swabbing persons along and they have been released as we move along.”
