COVID-19 Related Death Stands at 45

Marvin Manzanero

Forty-four other persons have recovered from the virus, leaving the total number of active cases to one thousand and ninety-six. There, however, two more deaths to report bringing the total number of persons to have died due to COVID-19 to forty-five. The country’s fatality rate is now at one point six percent, showing a slow increase.  The female in her middle fifties who is from August Pine Ridge died on Sunday.  She had been at the K.H.M.H.’s Intensive Care Unit for the last two weeks. The second death is a young man in his thirties, from Trial Farm Village in Orange Walk. He was found gasping for breath at home and died on arrival at the Northern Regional Hospital.

Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services

“It is a female who had been at the Karl Heusner for almost two weeks, had been referred from Northern Regional Hospital, is from a village from Orange Walk and that person had been ventilated and  had been unstable. As is right now there is no other patient ventilated at Karl Heusner.   As is we are just pending confirmation from someone who was picked up, I Believe this is in Corozal, gasping for breath was taken and died upon arrival. It was a very young person. Now that we are reviewing the data we had noted that he had been swabbed twice before because he had been caught border jumping. We are considering this a highly suspect case for SARSCOV2. So that confirmation should come in later on today.”
