Employee at Belize Postal Service Test Positive for COVID-19
A staffer at the Belize Postal Service in Belize City has tested positive at a private facility for the novel coronavirus and as a result, eighteen others who came in direct contact with that patient will be swabbed for the virus. These employees are now in self-isolation at home and are not to report to work until after they are tested and received a negative result. Doctor Marvin Manzanero says that the case was detected last Friday.

“A case identified in private sector last week Friday. Contact tracing via identification of a listing was done through the weekend. And again, it doesn’t mean that you will go and swab the entire post office staff; you have to determine really close contacts who were perhaps not adhering to the prevention measures that everybody should be adhering to, which is physical distancing as much as you can and if you can’t proper mask wearing even if you are sharing a same office space. And based on that, you determine how many people will need to be swabbed.”
According to a release issued by the Belize Postal Service today, the services of a certified fumigation and sanitization company was acquired to fumigate and sanitize the post office building over the weekend and hence there will be no disruption of its services at the general post office.
