Has the Godoy Family Been Swabbed and Tested for COVID-19?
There are conflicting reports on whether the Godoy family from Orange Walk has been swabbed and tested for COVID-19. Tonight, Arturo Godoy Senior says nine days ago he was swabbed, but still the outcome of his results has not been released. In fact, Godoy Senior went on further to say that due to erroneous information broadcast elsewhere about his family’s COVID-19 status, several members of his family have been sent home from their jobs because of the stigma associated with the virus. Contrary to Godoy Senior’s statement, Doctor Marvin Manzanero says that a report reaching his office suggests that the family is not cooperating with health officials. Godoy Senior told News Five this evening that they are more than willing to be tested following the death of his son, Arturo Godoy Junior. The grieving family is also discarding reports that the six-year-old contracted the virus from a relative.

“Honestly right here no one yet has reached to swab us. Nobody. I would have nine days today when I was swabbed and they called and said that there would be a contact tracing to my family. I explained to them, I give them my phone number, my address, everything. As yet, nobody has reached to swab. My brother-in-law went to a private doctor so he can get swabbed and he went to Belize to get swab and his test came back negative. I got the paper, I already send the paper so people can see. You know why we do it cause my next brother law lose his job because seven news said that the family is positive. My father-in-law lose his job because they say he was positive and nobody yet reach here to swab us.”
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“I really don’t want to get into discussion as to when people get swabbed because that is patient information, personal information and I think that they should be able to say when and if they have been swabbed.”
Duane Moody
“Has any member of that family been swabbed because we understand that up to now, nobody from Ministry of Health has approached them as yet?”
“Without going into particulars, the note I got this morning is that there had not been real cooperation from the family in terms of getting swabbing done. So I don’t want to get into further discussion as to who has been swabbed and who is positive from the family. I believe that they should be able to provide that information.”

“We are willing to get swabbed because we want to see who infect my son. But I know why they are not coming to swab us because they know that my baby didn’t have it and the next thing is they are waiting for us to go outside and someone catches it out there so that when they come they can say this one mi positive, this one mi positive and they pass the virus to your son.”
