The Orange Walk district recorded twenty new cases. As you heard, the number of cases continues on the rise, especially in the north. Doctor Marvin Manzanero provided an update on how many persons remain hospitalized due to COVID-19.
Dr. Marvin Manzanero, Director of Health Services
“In terms of the hospital census we have now twelve patients at Karl Heusner’s COVID containment COVIF unit. Two of those are intubated and two are possible discharges. Twelve is the maximum number that we have for that specific area. So I think we need to stress that so any other patient that requires to come to Karl Heusner starts to now overflow to different segments of that same layout. The Northern Regional Hospital went yesterday morning from having one patient to now having eight. They still have space for three. The San Ignacio Community Hospital has two patients in isolation and they have two beds available. The Corozal Community Hospital, they have two patients hospitalized. They have four beds available and the Western Health Region has two patients with four beds available. Dangriga and Punta Gorda do not have any patients hospitalized with COVID-19.”
