Mother Crushes Baby During Epileptic Seizure
A mother in Ladyville is mourning the sudden death of her three-month-old baby. The mother crushed the infant during an epileptic seizure at her home over the weekend. Tracy Webster reported to police that she was at home holding her baby when she had an epilepsy attack that caused her to tighten her hold around the baby. When the episode passed, she realised that the baby was dead. Superintendent Alejandro Cowo of the Crimes Investigation Branch for Eastern Division says that an investigation indicates that Webster is a diagnosed epileptic.

“The mother, who has a medical condition, had suffered an epileptic attack and at the time she had the baby with her in her arms. When she suffered the attack, apparently she hugged the baby tight and squeezed her and apparently caused the baby to die. We are awaiting a post-mortem to be sure and establish what is the cause of death of the minor.”

“If the cause of death turns out to be asphyxiation, would there be a charge associated with the mother for that?”
Supt. Alejandro Cowo
“It is something difficult. I believe it is because of the sickness that she is suffering and it is something that we cannot say if it is an intentional thing. Nonetheless, a file will still be compiled and that will be sent to the D.P.P.’s office for advice.”
