Biden Inches Closer to U.S. Presidency
To close our newscast tonight, here is an update about the U.S. elections. Democratic candidate Joe Biden is six electoral votes short of becoming the next President of the United States. At news time this evening, he led Republican candidate, President Donald Trump by fifty electoral votes. While the Associated Press has not called the race, Biden is at two hundred and sixty-four and Trump is at two hundred and fourteen. Former Vice President Biden is on the brink of political victory as his count grows in Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania. While Biden’s campaign is closely watching the results, they are hoping that the state of Pennsylvania would put them over the two hundred and seventy electoral votes that are required. On the other hand, federal judge Andrew Gordon has denied Republican candidates effort to stop ballot counting in Nevada’s Clark County. Following a two-hour hearing, Judge Gordon said, quote, the public interest is not in favor of disrupting the completion of the process of the counting of ballots. That could disenfranchise hundreds if not thousands of mail-in ballots that were legally cast.
