Here are the Latest COVID-19 Figures: 120 New Confirmed Cases

Melissa Diaz

Belize has confirmed more than ten thousand COVID-19 cases since the pandemic hit the country. Two hundred and twenty-eight persons have died due to the virus and fortunately, there were no new recorded deaths on Wednesday but two additional deaths recorded today. The curve however has not flattened as more than one thousand, one hundred cases remain active and one hundred and two hundred and twelve persons are under investigation.  The Ministry of Health and Wellness is on a campaign reminding the public to follow the Public Health advice and adhere to the quarantine guidelines. It is the hope that Belizeans countrywide would follow the regulations, especially during the Christmas holiday. Acting Director of Health Services Dr Melissa Diaz is pleading to the public to stay at home while thousands of frontline workers continue to put their lives at risk over the long weekend.

Dr. Melissa Diaz, Acting Director of Health Services

“This year has been a challenging and difficult year for many people all over the world. From losing jobs, income, businesses, to many of us having our loved ones ill or hospitalize or having lost our loved ones to COVID-19. It has been a year of locked down, rules and curfews. We have been encouraged to no longer socialize, to not hug or kiss our families, to leave loved one alones on their special days, to use our mask from nose to chin and to sanitized as much as possible. Many of us are left no hope and for many of us hope is all that we do have. During this Christmas time persons working on the frontline will continue to give of themselves and even more. Many of us will be working throughout the holidays. I would like to say a sincere thanks to all the dedicated hardworking personnel in the health facilities all over our beautiful nation, providing care to those who access our facilities.”
