Ingrid Vega is Discharged after Being Ventilated for COVID-19

It was an emotional moment for the family of Ingrid Vega, who was officially released from Belize Healthcare Partners Limited today. Ingrid is the wife of COVID-19 victim and former Corozal Bay area rep David “Dido” Vega, who died of complications related to the deadly virus on the morning of December eleventh, having been hospitalized at the private facility for almost a week. Ingrid’s release from the COVID Unit comes after thirteen days of hospitalization and seven days of mechanical ventilation. Around twelve-thirty today, after all paper works were concluded, she was wheeled out of the unit, still on oxygen and into a waiting SUV. The medical staff, dressed in their personal protective gears, escorted Ingrid to her family, who had not been able to see her for the past three weeks.  Having beaten what is considered the most difficult stage of the virus, it’s a bitter sweet moment for Ingrid because while she returns home to self-isolate and recover, only her daughters will be there as her husband did not survive his battle with COVID-19.
