Novelo’s buys out Batty Bros.

It was rumored for months and today it became official. After 60 years in the business Batty Brothers Bus Service has been sold to Novelo’s Bus line Limited. A statement from Batty’s says they believe Novelo’s is the most suitable successor to run the company which was started by Kenneth Batty Sr. His sons Kenneth Jr. and Leo have operated the bus line for the past 25 years. They say the two companies are engaged in a smooth transition in order to provide continuous service to their customers. Although News Five was unable to reach anyone from the Novelo’s management for comment, Tony Novelo told Love FM today that from their point of view the customers using both bus lines were not getting the service they needed. As competitors they were not able to get full routes, and cited as an example of this, that people in Benque Viejo del Carmen could not ride the same bus company all the way to Chetumal and vice versa. Novelo says the schedules for both companies will be maintained for the time being and they will sit down in the near future to see how they can improve the service. No dollar figure has been given for the buy-out.

  1. William Batty III says:

Hello, I am the grandson of William Batty the original proprietor of Batty Bros Bus service and was wondering if you might have some editorial or still images of my grandfather’s business when it was first established. I live in New Orleans, LA and have only visited Belize twice in my life. once as a boy and the second with the military dropping books for your country’s library post-Hurricane George. I’d appreciate whatever information you can send.

    Thanks!

P.S. I fi understand correctly the bus service was started in 1939 and sadly ended roughly 1999
