Joe Biden Inaugurated as USA’s 46th President
The United States of America has a new president. This morning, President Joe Biden took his oath as the forty-sixth president of the United States of America. Alongside him was Kamala Harris, who became the forty-ninth vice president and the first woman and woman of color to ascend to national office and hold the post of vice president. The audience for today’s ceremony was limited due to health precautions. Still in attendance were former presidents of the United States, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. One person who did not attend Biden’s inauguration was former President Donald Trump, who, during his term, became a polarizing figure, dividing the U.S. The one-term president was the first president to be impeached twice. During his term, Trump made several executive orders and held a strong stance on immigration. He pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Accord and the World Health Organization. In his first one hundred days, President Biden has committed to reverse several of Trump’s decisions.
Joe Biden, President of the United States of America
“So here is my message to those beyond our borders America has been tested and we have come out stronger for it. We will repair our alliances and engage with the world once again. Not to be challenges but today and tomorrow’s challenges and we will lead not merely by the example of our power but by the power of our example. We will be a strong and trusted partner for peace progress and security. Look, you all know we have been through so much in this nation. And my first act as president I want you to join me in a moment of silent prayer, remember all those we have lost in the past year in the pandemic, those four hundred thousand fellow Americans moms days, husbands, wives, sons and daughters, friends neighbors and co-workers we will honor them by becoming the people and the nation we know we can and should be.”
