Health & Wellness Ministry Has a Prepared Plan for COVID Variants

But what about the concerns on whether or not the new COVID variants are in Belize?  And is there a prepared plan should one be detected? As you know, three other strains of COVID-19 have been identified as more transmissible; the U.K. variant has been detected within the region, as close as Mexico.  Belize has sent samples for testing and Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat says that they should be getting some results this weekend.

“We anticipate that we are going to be getting results over the weekend. And depending on those results, we already have in place certain measures that we will need to implement right away. As you all know, especially the UK variant is known to be, it has a very high rate of infection, much more higher than the current strain that we know of. And so yes, at the Ministry of Health and Wellness, we are prepared should we find that the variant is now in Belize.”
