Is Doctor Manzanero Responsible for the Death of COVID-19 Victims?
The President of the A.P.S.S.M. says that according to the Public Service Regulations, there is a limited period of time for an allegation of misconduct to be brought against a public officer. The letter she saw refers to April 2020 which is ten months ago. Sharon Frazer says that due process has not been followed from the onset.
Sharon Frazer, President, A.P.S.S.M.
“I, and definitely A.P.S.S.M., cannot tell this administration or any other administration who they are to work with, but I am maintaining that it is about due process. It would have been fairly easy for proper consultation and this government could have gotten what they wanted and gotten who they want to work with. They said they were doing restructuring; pull in the Ministry of Public Service so that in fact they can look at it so that they could have created an avenue to ensure that Doctor Manzanero was not disenfranchised in any way because it has been done. The Ministry of Public Service should have already stepped in to say let us see what is happening; act as a mediator and intervene to find out what is happening. Now everybody is looking at Doctor Manzanero, whether he is convicted or not, that somebody di hold he responsible for the deaths from COVID-19 that occurred in Belize or he contributed, sorry, to the deaths that occurred as a result of COVID-19. So he gave them the virus? He gave them the virus? He exposed them? This is really amazing to me. I am waiting to see how they are going to prove this. This misconduct? Misconduct is a strong word you know and then not just that it is a strong word, but then attach it to the deaths.”
Widely circulating on social media is that Succotz villagers are ready to take to Belmopan to protest in support of what’s been happening to Doctor Marvin Manzanero.
