Dr. Cuellar Reacts to One-Third of Healthcare Workers Not Accepting Vaccine
Doctor Cuellar also reacted to the information shared by Ministry of Health and Wellness personnel which suggests that a startling thirty-five percent of frontline healthcare workers do not want to take the COVID-19 vaccine. Of note is that a number of healthcare personnel have contracted the virus, several doctors lost their fight with the virus, while many others have recovered. Doctor Cuellar says the resistance is disheartening and urges his colleagues to reconsider.
Dr. Fernando Cuellar, Head, COVID-19 Unit, Belize Medical Associates
“They have a higher number than we anticipated. We mi di think like maybe wah lee ten, maybe max twenty percent. But yo deh ina di thirty percent of people weh decide noh fi take the vaccine outta our own and that is disappointing. Yo hear that dehn need more data, but lawd we deh ina this thing for ah whole year; weh more data yo need mi bal? And that part is a bit disappointing that colleagues in this industry di react so negatively and it noh wah give wah good example to people overall. So I di tell my Belizean brothers and sisters please, for yourself, for the country get yo vaccine.”
