Health Minister Gets Vaccinated with AstraZeneca

Simultaneously, over at the COVID-19 Unit of the Western Regional Hospital, Minister of Health and Wellness, Michel Chebat visited the vaccination centre there where he got the first of his two shots.  While parliamentarians are among the second phase of the vaccination rollout plan, Chebat confirmed with the media today that he is included as part of the Ministry of Health and Wellness staff, which falls within the first phase.

“The flow was really swift this morning. We went in, they took my bio data initially and then the nurse came out and gave us a brief little talk about what to expect and what vaccination we gonna be getting and then I was shown into the vaccination room where I was vaccinated and I had to wait fifteen minutes for observation to ensure that I didn’t have any adverse reaction.”

“Sir, are you talking the vaccine as a healthcare worker or as the minister?”

“I am taking it as a part of the Ministry of Health and Wellness. When they calculated the number of healthcare workers that would have been included the staff at the ministry was included. So I am part of the Ministry of Health and Wellness.”

“So you are not breaking protocol by not being a part of phase two versus phase one?”

Michel Chebat

“Well I questioned that, I questioned that. But I believe that as the Ministry of Health and Wellness, it is important to me to show to the general public that I have confidence in the vaccine and hopefully that will allow them to have confidence in the vaccine as well.”
