COVID Numbers Still Low; What Does it Mean?
Over the weekend, sixteen new cases were identified across the country and fourteen new recoveries. No deaths were recorded over the weekend leaving the COVID-19 death toll at three hundred and eighteen. There are seventy-six samples that are under investigation and forty-one active cases as of April twelfth. Doctor Beer says that numbers are great, but the public should not let down its guard.
Dr. Natalia Largaespada Beer, Maternal & Child Health Technical Advisor, M.O.H.W.
“With the COVID data we are still the phase of the pandemic worldwide; it is not only Belize, other countries are experiencing a rise in the number of cases, even after reducing the number of COVID-19 cases. This is an opportunity to remind every Belizean that we all have a responsibility to ensure we keep these numbers low. Yes the vaccine is contributing to reduce the number of COVID-19, to reduce the transmission, but we need to do our part even after reducing the first dose of vaccine.”
