K.H.M.H. Staff Sacrifices Date to 2015
Baird said that the K.H.M.H. employees have already given up quite a lot of their salaries and benefits. Some of these sacrifices date back to 2015.
Andrew Baird, Vice President, K.H.M.H. Workers’ Union
“If you may recall, when public officers received eight, six and three percent (raise) in three years from the government, we had only received 10% in increment at that time. So we had a seven percent loss. Then we were told after that that we were not pensionable, so lost again. Then because the Karl Heusner Act allows the staff to either start a pension scheme or a provident fund for the staff since we’re not pensionable, they started a provident fund where the staff gives three percent of their salary and management gives four percent. So again we’re at a loss of three percent, but for our own good this time.”
