Phase Four of Vaccination Rollout Imminent
Last Thursday, we reported that some fifty thousand people had received their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine since the inoculation process began in early March. That number is up by seven thousand so far, as the second dose is also being administered for the first three phases of the rollout exercise. Today, Health and Wellness Minister Michel Chebat said that another shipment of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine from the COVAX facility will arrive next week. Phase four will then begin.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health & Wellness
“We have fifteen point seven percent of our population having received the first dose which is excellent. I can tell you Duane that next week; we are getting another shipment of vaccine through the COVAX facility that will be the third shipment and so we have enough vaccines in the country right now so that our people can come out and get vaccinated. Right now we are at phase three. I will say this very specifically, nobody is being denied the vaccine; however, we are trying to do it in an orderly manner, making sure that those who are at most risk are the first to get vaccinated. Next week, we are going to be opening our fourth phase which would include persons who are in the public and private transportation business. You know we are trying to reopen up our tourism industry and so that becomes a priority for us.”
