Cases Increase: 8 COVID-19 Patients Hospitalized; 2 Critical
For those of you who have been feeling like Belize is now post-pandemic, tonight there is a reminder that we still need to exercise caution. As you know, on Tuesday, there was an additional COVID-19 related death, bringing Belize’s total to three hundred and twenty-five since the start of the pandemic some fifteen months ago. While the figures remain on the lower side, tonight we can report that the Ministry of Health and Wellness has recorded increasing hospitalizations. Over last three days, the number has increased to eight, with two in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit of the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Today News Five spoke with Minister Michel Chebat.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health & Wellness
“We’re seeing a little bit of increase in numbers. Yesterday we had fourteen new cases reported; the day before that we had ten. But what we are looking at very carefully is the number of hospitalizations. Over the past four five days, it went from three to four to six and up to yesterday we were up to eight. And so that is of concern to us so we are keeping a close watch on that Duane.”

“Those are all at the K.H.M.H.?”
Michel Chebat
“Yes.”
Duane Moody
“Critical cases sir?”
Michel Chebat
“I believe there might be two in the I.C.U., but the others are in the critical care ward.”
