Hospital for Children gives donation to K.H.M.H.
Earlier this year, Belize’s Honorary Counsel to Louisiana, Jean Smith-Benard, brought a medical team to work in Belize. One of the members of the team was Dr. Mayer Heiman, President of the International Hospital for Children. Mayer worked in the Independence, Bella Vista and San Juan Clinics in southern Belize where he saw the need for an ambulance service. This week he’s back with two of his board members to get a true picture of what a patient experiences and what they can do to help. Today the hospital made a monetary donation to the Friends of K.H.M.H.
Dr. Mayer Heiman, International Hospital for Children
“It’s just a different feel from, “we’ll see” to “we’re doing”. I think that’s the difference I see.”
Jean Smith-Benard, Honorary Consul, Louisiana
“I’ve seen a great improvement lately in the services that are being offered. I definitely see improvement in the medical field.”
Dr. Victor Rosado, Pediatric Department, K.H.M.H.
“The most pressing need right now, this time of year with the rainy season, we have a lot of asthmatic kids coming in so I can definitely see us acquiring some more nebulizing machines with this money.”
Dennis Quaid, International Hospital for Children
“We came here to learn from the people here, to find out what the people need and we’ll be going back to the United States. We’ve set up our networks and we’ll be sending supplies and medicines down here.”
The International Hospital for Children donated two thousand U.S. dollars to the Friends of K.H.M.H., and one thousand dollars each to the Youth Enhancement Services and NOPCA Saves Children’s Home.
