Italian government donates water testing supplies
One of the major concerns a country faces after a natural disaster is the quality of water its citizens are drinking. The Italian government decided to donate water quality testing material and equipment to Central American countries affected by Hurricane Mitch. Belize submitted a project proposal and today, the Italian Ambassador, Giuseppe Antuzi, handed over a one hundred thirty thousand U.S. dollar donation to Belize.
Giuseppe Antuzi, Non Resident Italian Ambassador
“For now we are hoping that everything is alright and it’ll be used for the people in the country.”
Dr. Errol Vanzie, Director, Health Services
“It is the first time that we have received such support. Traditionally Italy has worked with the Latin countries and we’re
very glad at this time that they have included Belize. As I said before we hope that this cooperation will continue.”
The donation will be used by the Water Quality Lab at the Public Health Office.
