Minister of Tourism Says Cruise Lines Will Return with Vaccinated Passengers

Anthony Mahler

As cruise tourism is set to return to Belize on July seventh, Minister Mahler explained that Carnival, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean are all preparing for a return with vaccinated passengers.

Anthony Mahler, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations

“On July seventh we should have our first Carnival ship in Port. They are going to be operating at about sixty percent. It is a big ship, so you are still talking about maybe two thousand five hundred passengers. All passengers, not all, but ninety five percent of Carnival passengers have to be vaccinated. They are leaving a small amount for people, for religious purposes, children and for people who have some ailments or underlying conditions. And I want to make it clear, that group of people who are not vaccinated, who are going on the cruise, who are coming on the cruise, will operate totally in a bubble. They are going to be on a separate part of the ship. They are going to have their own buffet line. They are going to have their own tender. They are going to have their own tour operations, just so that we have stringent measures, and the protocols are not eroded. Carnival, four ships in July, four ships in August, and then they ramp it up to eight ships in September. And then, Norwegian the same thing. Norwegian is going to operate in a bubble. All their staff members are going to be vaccinated. And, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean are going to be operating at one hundred percent vaccinated.”
