Everyone over 18 Can Now Get Vaccine
Vaccines are now available for persons who are eighteen years and older. As you know, since the vaccine rollout began back in March, the government took a phased approach for different groups due to vaccine availability and priority for essential and vulnerable groups. But since they have acquired vaccines from several countries and COVAX, the phased system is gone. Now, they want everyone eighteen and older to take the jab.
Michel Chebat, Minister of Health and Wellness
“As of today, all persons eighteen years and above are now eligible to be vaccinated. All of our public health facilities are open to vaccinate persons eighteen years and above. Also, all those persons who received a first dose almost eight weeks ago can also proceed to get their second dose. Ladies and gentlemen we have in the pipeline awaiting delivery a hundred and thirty eight thousand doses from the COVAX facility and a hundred and twelve thousand six hundred and thirty-four from the African Medical Supplies Platform. On June eighteen, we had given a total of ninety-five thousand two hundred and forty-eight doses. As of yesterday, we have now given a hundred and twelve thousand seven hundred and twenty-two vaccines; eighty-three thousand five hundred and seven are first doses; while twenty-nine thousand two hundred are fully vaccinated individuals.”
