Despite New Vaccine Ad, Police Will Still Break Up Parties

Kareem Musa

So, you heard the Minister of Health’s take on the video ad – but at that very same campaign launch, Minister of Home Affairs Kareem Musa made it clear that the Belize Police Department will be going after those who host and attend parties because it is against the COVID-19 regulations.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs

“I can say that on behalf of the Police Department, over the last week, a hundred and eight ticket violations were issued for not wearing your mask or social distancing; we had to issue summons to two establishments in the Orange Walk District but we had to summons them for violating and encouraging social gatherings on their premises. So, it is a reminder that the Police Department will be taking this aggressive approach and we have been reminding the public since June eight. Because we are not encouraging parties whether at home, whether at restaurants or whether on the sea because as you know some Belizeans have gotten creative and taken the party to the sea and so we are aggressively pursuing that as well.”
