Belizean Students in Taiwan Participate in Virtual Research Conference
Belizean students studying in the Republic of China (Taiwan) are preparing to participate in a virtual academic conference this Saturday. Each participant will get an opportunity to present the research they conducted during their tertiary level studies there. The event is being hosted by the Belize Ambassador to Taiwan, Doctor Candice Pitts, and will be streamed live on Channel Five. Ambassador Pitts told us more.
Dr. Candice Pitts, Belizean Ambassador to Taiwan
“The Belize Taiwan Academic Conference is an initiative that was inspired by the Belizean students here in Taiwan. During my first meeting with them as the new Ambassador, they had expressed to me that they were concerned about the status of their research and their studies. They expressed that they had investment much into their research and studies, and had worked tirelessly, and wanted to do something else with their research after they had attained their academic degrees. And so, being a trained educator myself, I suggested to them why not consider an academic conference or symposium. We agreed that the initiative would not just be beneficial to the students themselves, but it will also be beneficial to the bilateral relationship between Belize and Taiwan. Fundamentally, this conference is to help ensure that not only the students and Taiwan become beneficiaries of our students’ studies and training, but to ensure that Belize become a practical beneficiary of our student studies here in Taiwan.”
The virtual conference begins at six pm this Saturday.
