COVID Protocols to Keep Belize’s Travel Risk Low
Has the rise in COVID-19 led to Belize being flagged as a moderate travel risk? Just last week, Belize was listed as a country with low-risk for travelers, but all that has changed. Today, Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Anthony Mahler appealed to Belizeans to follow the protocols to contain the spread of the virus.

“Last month the CDC elevated Belize to level one which puts us among the countries with the lowest risk for travel during the COVID-19 pandemic; but wait, guess what, we are back to level two – moderate risk. This is the area that we must focus on. We cannot let our guards down; we must keep our COVID numbers under control; we must make it safe to reopen and relax our measures. The most effective way to do this is to ensure that our people get vaccinated. More than seventy-four percent of American travelers have already received the COVID vaccine and of those vaccinated, eighty-seven percent are comfortable with travelling internationally. But in Belize we are not yet where we need to be.”
