Dr. Laura Friesen, General Practitioner, Belize Medical Associates
“They have identified a risk of certain types of blood clots; they remained very rare but it is there and I inform all of my patients of that. I crunched some numbers last night when I was preparing – and if the whole country of Belize would get vaccinated – of a population of four hundred thousand persons, you would have at the most with the current statistics – and these come out of Europe because Europe has used the AstraZeneca the most, we might have two to four cases the most in the whole country, if four hundred thousand people would get vaccinated – of a blood clot. And not all of these would end in death because these can be treated. That’s not a lot, if you look at the population level.”
