Doctor Fernando Cuellar Hospitalised with COVID-19
Well-known internist, Doctor Fernando Cuellar has been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19. On Saturday, he began feeling congested with a headache and low-grade fever. One day later, he experienced excessive weakness. This morning, his oxygen saturation fell and so Doctor Cuellar checked himself into the hospital. A CT scan showed bilateral pneumonia and so he is receiving a small amount of oxygen and is being managed by Doctors Musa, Hidalgo and Arriaga. This afternoon, Doctor Cuellar told News Five that his prognosis is good and he is feeling better already. The doctor recently appeared on the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Get the Facts Weekly Show and in this clip, he reminds the public that even vaccinated persons can contract COVID-19, but the symptoms are not as severe.

“The final object, the reason we are getting vaccinated is to prevent serious illness and deaths. Hospitalization, I.C.U., pain and suffering and death. That is the real use of the vaccine. The vaccine does not prohibit or stop people from catching the virus. There is even some debate if you catch it if you are infectious. That is why I would still suggest that although we are vaccinated like I am, that we still use face masks. We are not quite out of it yet. But, I for one, myself, and those around me have applied the vaccine to prevent serious illness and death. And, I am seeing that in my practice over the past three and four months. The people who have been vaccinated are the ones who do not get terribly sick, as opposed to those who have not been vaccinated, and would end the hospital and the I.C.U. unit.”
