Teachers Vaxxed, Classrooms Ready at St. John Vianney
But how prepared is Saint John Vianney for the safe return to face-to-face, in-class learning when it does start up again?
Felix Sutherland, Principal, Saint John Vianney Catholic School
“Ninety-five percent of our teachers are fully vaccinated, our protocol was in place from last year. We maintained the physical distance and we reengineered our operating procedure for our COVID protocol. So it is ongoing. We continue to ensure that we have sanitizing consumables, the chlorox and what have you. And yes, it is expensive, but we will continue to do what we can with our limited resources. So teachers are able, teachers are willing – thank God. You said that we are looking forward to a face-to-face instruction. Yes we were, however, we were aware of the possibility that it may not be so we had our contingency plan in place and we are working on our contingency plan now. So it wasn’t difficult for us to switch back to blended. So we will embrace the opportunity for what it is. It will be a teachable moment for everyone concerned and so we look forward to it.”
