Technicians Promised their Overdue Overtime

Michel Chebat

Last week, lab technicians at the Central Health Lab declared they would not work anymore overtime hours because they had not been paid for the overtime accrued since June. The President of the Nurses Association, Darrell Spencer, came out in defence of the lab technicians, saying that it was high time others in the field came forth to express the frustrations they face on the job.  Today, Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat said there’s no need for anyone to worry because the lab technicians will be paid their overtime.

“I know that there was a concern about the overtime and there were some competing interpretation of how the overtime was to be calculated between the FO’s, the AO’s and the staff at Treasury. That matter has been resolved and I can confirm to you that everybody is getting paid this week. I actually spoke to the FO at the Ministry of Health and Wellness before I came here today and he has confirmed to me that the overtime payment has gone out.”
